Tropical Cyclone Radar Loops by Brian McNoldy
[edit]The license statement provided by the author is not a free one; see discussion here.
I have contacted the author by email, who initially said "Wikipedia can use them", but has not responded for 10 days when I said I need a specific license. So I believe the author is unwilling to provide a freer license. It is possible the author is away on winter vacation, but this doesn't seem plausible to me.

Keep, those NEXRAD images are from NOAA, CWB radar images are licensed at {{PD-ROC-official}}, all are in PD. I believe that Brian McNoldy is not the copyright holder of those radar images. --B dash (talk) 04:27, 24 December 2018 (UTC)
- If these are visualizations of weather radar data, then what except the data can be copyrighted here? A coarse or pixelized picture of the coast of PRC, Taiwan, Puerto Rico, or some other Florida? Incnis Mrsi (talk) 18:39, 24 December 2018 (UTC)
- Color, crop, legend, time frames, word selection. To be honest, I don't think we have a good enough case to host these visualizations to pass COM:PCP. Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 19:25, 24 December 2018 (UTC)
Keep If he said wikipedia can use them, then you should wait and try contacting him again after New Year's. Be aware that universities let out in mid-December, so there would not be a need for him to answer his email during that time. You should get a response by mid-January depending on when classes start at his school. Hurricane Noah (talk) 11:51, 25 December 2018 (UTC)
- He's had 11 days, and gave an intentionally ambiguous answer when prodded the first time. w:WP:ILIKEIT. Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 19:03, 25 December 2018 (UTC)
Deleted: To quote from the statement: These loops were all created by me, and anyone may feel free to link to or use them, but I'd appreciate if credit is given (Brian McNoldy, Univ of Miami). Firstly, this establishes that Brian McNoldy appears to be the author of these loops and no proof to the contrary has been presented. Secondly, this statement does not conform to COM:L as it does not give the freedom to modify these images. It would have been best if a free release would have been granted. But this did apparently not happen for considerable time. --AFBorchert (talk) 19:32, 4 June 2019 (UTC)
